There is something about waterfalls that enthralls us. For some, it’s the sheer power that inspires awe, while for others a cascade’s graceful arc and mist-shrouded descent is what makes it so mesmerizing. Whatever the reason, these natural marvels are often a highlight of an adventure with Vantage. Here’s a sampling of the waterfalls you can experience with us:
Seen on America’s Great Lakes
These falls are justifiably among the most famous in the world. Nearly 28 million gallons
of water pass over the 167-foot falls every second, and the sight of it no doubt leaves nearly the 30 million people who visit each year (either on the Canadian or U.S. sides) wide-eyed in amazement.
“The Smoke That Thunders” is one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World, and it’s not hard to understand why. A mile wide, this curtain of water (which is divided between Zambia and Zimbabwe) plunges at least 354 feet, and the mists can sometimes be seen from 30 miles away.
Seen on Iceland Adventure
Iceland is teeming with stunning cataracts, but Gullfoss is among its most famous and impressive. The name means “Golden Waterfall” in Icelandic, which is likely because the water can sometimes take on a golden-brown color when the sun hits it.
The Fjord Falls of Norway
Seen on The World’s Most Beautiful Voyage
This Nordic nation is renowned for its beauty, particularly in its legendary fjords. You’ll find waterfalls peppered throughout, adding to the striking scenery here. Perhaps most notable waterfalls? The famed “Seven Sisters,” which you can see in Geirangerfjord.
When it comes to natural splendor, the National Parks of the United States are justly revered around the world. You may see a number of waterfalls on your exploration here, including the Upper Falls, Lower Falls, Crystal Falls, and more.
