Al Davidson and his wife Sharilyn were looking forward to their first river cruise, Majestic Rivers of Europe, in 2016. As he was confirming the details online, Al saw an opportunity: upgrade his suite from the Deluxe to the Owner’s Suite.
“I learned a long time ago to go First Class when you can,” he said. “It only costs a little more and can make a big difference.”
And for the Davidsons, it certainly did — but only one of them knew of the upgrade at first. “I decided to surprise my wife,” he said. And when she walked in to see her grand home on the rivers of Europe? “Her eyes were as wide as saucers!”
They walked into a stunning space that is truly fit for some of the regal cities they visited on this popular European river cruise. So what impressed them? “Everything. The spaciousness, the amenities, the view, the Jacuzzi tub … it exceeded my high expectations.”
They also appreciated the service on the ship, specifically from their room steward, Dahni. “Superlative,” he said of Dahni’s attentive service. “He anticipated almost every need, and when we asked for things, he took care of it immediately.”
Of course, the river cruise itself was pretty memorable as well. “It was the ultimate in enjoyment,” he said. “Each of the ports we visited were absolutely magnificent. And what really made it better was the dedicated crew on the ship, from the cruise director to the pastry chef.”
The Davidsons had such a great experience that they couldn’t help but mention it to friends. “We sent out 75 Christmas cards this year, and we mentioned what a great experience we had with Vantage.”
The Davidsons had such a great experience that they have planned two more river cruises planned with Vantage — Essential Holland: Tulips in Spring in 2018 & France Culinary Delights: Paris to Normandy in 2019 — and have already booked the Owner’s Suite on both. And while it won’t be a surprise this time, Al said, “We’ve very excited!”
