The sky of Lijiang was crystal blue and air was superb, fresh and clean. The holy mountain of Jade Dragon Snow mountain was glistering under the fierce sunshine in the distance. In the fields azalea spread like fire.
This little town of Lijiang in south western China was nearly forgotten by all until an earthquake in 1996 suddenly brought it to the the world's attention. While receiving worldwide rescue aid, it returned with its astonishing natural beauty as well as fascinating Naxi minority culture. In 1997, the UNESCO recognized it as one of the World Cultural Heritages.
We arrived in the afternoon and began the exploration of Lijiang with an easy visit to Joseph Rock's former house located at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow mountain. Dr. Rock made Yuhu village as his home for 27 years from 1922 to 1949, to search for oriental plants to study the local minority culture. His adventurous life just amazed every Vantage guest. After the tour we joined for a group picture – everyone was just joyful.
